Six-channel video projection

Ember immerses viewers in a six-wall projection of a solitary samurai standing in a reed field. At over four meters tall, the figure looms motionless as fire slowly spreads through the surrounding grass. The work places the body inside the image, collapsing the distance between viewer and scene.

One-channel video projection

Lacuna projects onto the front steps of USC's disused pool entrance, a space that no longer serves its original purpose. The image spills down from the doorway like water that has nowhere left to go. From speakers, lo-fi audio: children's voices, splashing, a simple harmonica melody.
